Miller Family Bots

A small fleet of private, self-hosted assistants that help the Miller family with their own email, calendar, documents and reminders.

What this is

Miller Family Bots is a set of personal AI assistants running on hardware the family owns, inside the family's own home network. Each member of the family has their own assistant, connected to their own Google Account.

The assistants help with ordinary household logistics: finding a message, checking what is on the calendar, pulling up a shared document, keeping a to-do list, and searching the family's own email archive. They answer questions from the family member they belong to, and nobody else.

Who this is for

This is a private application used by the Miller family. It is not a product, it has no customers, and it is not offered, sold or marketed to the public. There is no public sign-up. The only accounts that can connect to it are the handful of family Google Accounts explicitly added by the family administrator.

Not a service you can join

If you arrived here looking to sign up: there is nothing to sign up for. This page exists because Google requires any application that connects to Google Accounts to publish a public description of itself and a privacy policy. Those are below.

How it works

  • Self-hosted. The assistants, their data stores and the email archive all run on family-owned hardware on the family's own network. There is no hosted vendor service in the middle.
  • Your account, your assistant. Each assistant connects only to the Google Account of the family member it was set up for, with that person's explicit consent through Google's standard OAuth flow.
  • On request. The assistants act when the family member asks them to. There is no bulk background harvesting of Google data, and no profiling.
  • Revocable at any time. Any family member can disconnect their assistant from their Google Account at any moment, without asking anyone, through their own Google Account settings.

Google data

With the account owner's permission, an assistant may access that person's Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Tasks and Contacts — used only to answer that person's own requests and to search the family's own email archive.

The full details of what is accessed, how it is stored, and the limits on its use are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of this page.

Privacy policy

Short version: family data stays on family hardware. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train AI models, and not shared with anyone except as the law requires.
